A part of the Reiyoku AU, Marika is rather unique in that they're not only proof that the 'series' is placed a short time after Zexal...
But they were actually technically in Zexal as well. The reincarnation of the emperor from Alit's myth, they're taken from shortly after Alit forced their shadow to relinquish their body. Adjusting to the time and memory has been rough, but they've mostly got it...
Even if their parents aren't so keen in the apparent 'sudden change of personality'.
While Marika is physically a girl, they identify with both the male and female genders, in part because of their memories as the Emperor. That said, they're quite fine responding to 'she' as well, so Marika won't correct someone in that case.
